ICMAC 20th Anniversary Orlando Tournament
June 30, 2018 — Orlando, Florida
Sifu Slaughter’s Chinese Martial Arts school competed in the ICMAC Orlando 20thAnniversary Tournament June 30 – July 1, 2018. Competition was fierce, with over 2,000 talented competitors from 13 countries performing in 10 rings, in front of over 1,000 spectators – record breaking attendance for ICMAC!
Competitors in many styles of Chinese martial arts came from all over the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, China, Colombia, Belgium, Italy, Japan, Bermuda, Australia, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, and Azerbaijan to compete in this prestigious 20th Anniversary ICMAC Orlando Tournament.
In addition to beautifully performed lion dances and a rarely-seen lion ceremony as part of the tournament opening, the tournament included a fantastic masters’ demonstration with exhibitions of amazing skills from many different branches of Kung Fu. Thank you to all who performed – it was inspiring!
Sifu Slaughter was honored along with other masters and grandmasters by induction into the ICMAC Hall of Fame, for his many contributions to Chinese Martial Arts and the ICMAC tournaments. The school was represented by four of Sifu’s senior students who competed in several divisions, traditional open hand, long, short and open weapons, and partner forms, taking home two silver and two bronze medals (and lots of ideas for a lot more work for next year!)
Most importantly, Sifu and his students were able to meet and enjoy watching the performances of many talented students and masters. We all took home with us a greater appreciation for the skill and beauty of many styles of Chinese martial arts, the priceless value of new friendships made and old friendships renewed, and a greater-than-ever respect for this art.
